It turns out the Secret Service was right all along.
The January 6 Committee will be receiving the ‘deleted’ text messages from the Secret Service this week.
After smearing the Secret Service and implying the agency was maliciously hiding text messages from January 5 and January 6, Democrat Rep. Zoe Lofgren said the panel will be receiving the electronic communications this week.
As previously reported, the Secret Service was accused of ‘deleting’ text messages from January 5 and January 6 by the agency’s watchdog.
The watchdog claims the Secret Service deleted the text messages after an oversight panel probing the agency’s response to January 6 requested the electronic communications.
The Secret Service denied the accusations and said all of the requested text messages had been saved.
“The insinuation that the Secret Service maliciously deleted text messages following a request is false,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
The January 6 panel unnecessarily harassed the Secret Service with subpoenas last week.

The Democrat-led House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot expects to receive copies Tuesday of Secret Service text messages once thought to have been erased by the agency.
California Democrat Zoe Lofgren told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday that the committee had subpoenaed the Secret Service for the texts and that they would be arriving early this week.
“You can imagine how shocked we were to get the letter from the inspector general saying that he had been trying to get this information and that [the texts] had, in fact, been deleted after he asked for them?” Lofgren asked. “We expect to get them by this Tuesday. “I was shocked to hear that they didn’t back up their data before they reset their iPhones. That’s crazy.”
