A British eco-terrorist group claimed this week that followers in America deflated tires on forty SUVs in New York City’s Upper East Side neighborhood. The group posted online bragging about their attacks on private automobile ownership. The group, which does not spare electric or hybrid SUVS, threatened to target vehicles in cities across the U.S.

The Tyre Extinguishers have disarmed SUVs in New York City for the first time, with 40 SUVs disarmed last night.
Using leaflets in American English (‘Tire’ rather than ‘Tyre’), 40 SUVs had their wheels deflated in the Upper East Side, home to the greatest concentration of individual wealth in NYC.
Starting initially in the UK, Tyre Extinguishers groups have sprung up in the UK, USA, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Sweden and New Zealand. In the UK, actions have taken place in London, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester.
This is the first action in New York City, the first of many.
The Tyre Extinguishers target SUVs because:
• SUVs are a climate disaster
• SUVs cause air pollution
• SUVs are dangerous
• SUVs are unnecessaryThe Tyre Extinguishers want to see bans on SUVs in urban areas,
pollution levies to tax SUVs out of existence, and massive investment in free, comprehensive public transport. But until politicians make this a reality, Tyre Extinguishers action will continue.

The terrorists encourage attacks on hybrid and electric SUVS:
“Hybrids and electric cars are fair game. We cannot electrify our way out of the climate crisis – there are not enough rare earth metals to replace everyone’s car and the mining of these metals causes suffering. Plus, the danger to other road users still stands, as does the air pollution (PM 2.5 pollution is still produced from tyres and brake pads).”
The terrorists claim attacks on thousands of vehicles around the globe.

Fox News reported a police report was filed over one attack this week:
“On June 28, 2022 at 12:20am in front of 146 East 65 Street there is a report on file in the 19th Precinct for criminal tampering,” a New York Police Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital in an email. “A 49-year-old male victim states upon returning to his vehicles he discovered one tire to each of his vehicles had been deflated.” The spokesperson added that no arrests have been made and that the investigation remains ongoing.”
