Napa County Department of Corrections released Paul Pelosi’s mugshot on Monday after he was arrested for drunk driving.
“In Napa County, the decision to release or withhold mugshots or booking photos lies with the Napa County Department of Corrections, not the District Attorney’s Office,” a county spokesperson said in a statement Monday. “In the days after Mr. Pelosi’s arrest, Napa County followed the Department of Corrections’ policy regarding the release of booking photos and mugshots. Mr. Pelosi received the same treatment under that policy that all individuals released from County Jail receive.”
Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), has a preliminary court date on August 3rd for his Memorial Day weekend DUI arrest in Napa County, California that involved a crash with his Porsche and a Jeep.
Pelosi is out on $5000 bail on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher.
According to the report, Pelosi pulled out onto S-29 to cross it, ignoring a stop sign, and was struck by Jesus V. Lopez, who was driving a 2014 Jeep. Lopez was reportedly traveling northbound on the state road.
At the scene of the accident, Pelosi was found to have been over the legal blood alcohol limit. He was arrested on two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher.
Police waited more than 4 hours to utilize a breathalyzer on Pelosi, in which time his blood alcohol content likely was reduced.
Speaker Pelosi refused to answer questions about her husband’s drunk driving arrest and said it was a “private matter.”
