ESPN’s longtime analyst and commentator Kirk Herbstreit announced on Monday that he will not be able to participate in this year’s NFL draft coverage due to a blood clot.
Herbstreit announced on his Twitter account that his doctors discovered he has a blood clot and will skip the NFL draft coverage this week on the advice of his doctors.
“Hey, guys, big week with the NFL draft out in Las Vegas, always one of my favorite events of the year. Unfortunately, I will not be able to come out to Vegas and be a part of this year’s coverage. Doctors have recently found a blood clot in my system and so very fortunate to have really good doctors who I trust,” Herbstreit told his Twitter followers.
“I feel good, but out of an abundance of caution, I think I’m just going to take a step back from this year’s draft coverage. We still have a great team out in Vegas with ABC and ESPN.” he said.
“Like I said, I love the draft. I love watching the players, their stories, the coverage of it, watching the families, the emotions that come with it. And I’m just sad I will not be able to be out there, but I will be watching, like everybody else, look forward to seeing all the different storylines unfold. But I will see you guys at next year’s draft, and you guys have a great week,” he added.
Herbstreit did not provide further information and the cause of his diagnosis.
Hey guys-wanted to update you on my situation this week. Unfortunately I won’t be part of our ESPN/ABC NFL Draft coverage. Our team in Vegas will have it covered, and I will be watching.
Congrats to all the players! I love this event and look forward to returning next year. pic.twitter.com/UvBsI3TaUV

Last year, Herbstreit received his second shot of the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Got my 2nd vaccine today. So thankful to take that next step. Never really looked at the decision any other way other than I just wanted to be vaccinated and feel that freedom. No brainer for me-Appreciative for the opportunity,” he wrote.

As the Gateway Pundit previously reported, a new study out of Europe has revealed that cases of heart inflammation that required hospitalization were much more common among vaccinated individuals compared to the unvaccinated.
