CNN may have a fresh look in the very near future after new owners take over in the coming months. Former President Jeff Zucker’s resignation may bring on a fresh start.
On Wednesday the President of CNN, Jeff Zucker, resigned after admitting to a work relationship that he never disclosed and as a result, he resigned.
FOX News reported on the response from the new owners of CNN including Discovery CEO David Zaslav, a Trump donor.
The boss of CNN’s new parent company said on Friday the network was “the leader in news to the left” – but his communications team soon scrambled to walk back the frank admission, insisting he wasn’t talking about politics.
Discovery CEO David Zaslav, whose media giant is set to close its merger with CNN’s owner WarnerMedia this spring, made the surprise remark during a discussion about the network’s future – days after the abrupt resignation of the network’s president, Jeff Zucker.
“We have this great entertainment menu, which should keep people in the home, from the kids to the grandparents. Why would they go anywhere else? And then we’re the leader in news to the left,” Zaslav told CNBC on Friday.
The New York Post reports that CNN’s Brian Stelter says the new owners look at Zucker’s resignation as a “fresh start”:
Jeff Zucker’s sudden resignation from CNN shocked company employees and television personalities alike, but it reportedly isn’t a source of major concerns for the executives at Discovery Inc., the network’s future parent company.
Discovery Inc. executives are treating Zucker’s untimely exit as a “fresh start” for CNN ahead of a pending merger with WarnerMedia, according to CNN’s media reporter, Brian Stelter.
If CNN’s new management was smart, they would move to the right where most Americans are at – including the largest political base in US history – the Trump base.
